Grief as A Tool for Transformation

Grief as A Tool for Transformation

July 26, 2021

We all experience grief in our life but how we move through it and are moved by it can be very different. When I lost my Dad 2 years ago this month, I let the floor cave in and waited to be caught by something else – something new and more substantial. It was the tipping point for me to go fully through the threshold of liminal space that I had already been ushered into - the Further Journey to true integration with my soul. Interestingly, in that time and space around his death, my connection with my inner wisdom and spirit went from what felt like a slow-speed dial-up to lightning-fast fiber optic. It was like I was on a spiritual supercharger. The things that were happening in and around me were nothing short of amazing.

What it looked like to go through that transformative experience and how we can use grief as a powerful tool on the journey to becoming is what I’m sharing with you in today’s show.

So many people are grieving in the world right now. If this is how you are feeling, I encourage you to honor your grief and give it the proper space and time to reveal what it’s trying to show you. It just might surprise you in ways you never could have imagined.  xoB

Trust Your Abundance with David Strickel

Trust Your Abundance with David Strickel

June 16, 2021

Have you been waiting for life to open up in amazing ways around you? According to the teachings of The Stream, when we learn to forgive, seek to understand, and remove judgment that’s exactly what will start to happen.

Today’s guest, David Strickel, is a channel who, since early childhood, has been receiving downloads of thought from a group of non-physical entities of consciousness that he calls The Stream. He developed an ability to share this guidance for the benefit of others and has created a simple set of tools that profoundly transformed every aspect of his life, delivering a life of joy, clarity, and abundance. These tools have become the basis of his TYA Practice – Trust Your Abundance.

Through The Stream, David has learned that we all have a direct connection to Source energy but that many of us have turned off our ability to connect by adopting fear, doubt, and worry as our main operating system. Give today’s show a listen to learn more about how David got in tune with his connection, what lessons The Stream has for us, and how we can trust our abundance so that we can feel more joy, more peace, and more clarity in our lives.  xoB

Emerging from the Covid Cocoon

Emerging from the Covid Cocoon

May 17, 2021

How much has changed for you since we entered the Covid cocoon? Now that we’re able to start getting out a little more, how are you going to bring along all the things you’ve been doing, all the ways you’ve been growing, and all the ways you’ve been transforming? How are you going to live into the lessons you’ve been learning throughout this pandemic – whatever that’s been?  It’s about to get real – again – but in a different way than it did in the Covid cocoon. Now that we’re able to step out and start taking action, things like limiting beliefs can start to layer on and keep us stuck. Don’t let it happen to you! Today I’m sharing some insights about limiting beliefs including:

✧Why they have the power to keep us stuck;

✧Two signs that you’re up against a limiting belief; and

✧A three-step process for dealing with them so you can leave them in the dust as you fly into the future.

As we all start to emerge from our Covid cocoons, let’s make sure that we’re ready to fly with strong wings. Don’t let things like limiting beliefs and carrying values that aren’t aligned with your soul purpose weigh you down, because soul seeker, you are meant to soar!  xoB

The Enneagram: A Tool for Spiritual Growth

The Enneagram: A Tool for Spiritual Growth

May 3, 2021

Are you looking for a map that can take you to the seat of your soul? If so, don’t miss today’s conversation with Vrin Rao on the Enneagram, an ancient framework of 9 archetypes/energies, that will shed so much light on your path that it can be hard to look at sometimes! The Enneagram helps us grow in spiritual discernment and awaken to the gifts we have to give to the world and helps us understand the WHY behind our emotions, actions, motivations, and needs.

As an Enneagram Coach, Vrin covers a lot of ground in this conversation including:

✧A comprehensive overview of the Enneagram framework, the primary motivations of each type, the intelligent centers, the wings, and points of integration and disintegration;

✧The role that awareness plays in the health or stress of each type;

✧How the Enneagram helps us get more comfortable with ambiguity and gives us space to hold contradictions within ourselves with love and understanding; and

✧How to work with the Enneagram once you know your type to enhance your personal and spiritual growth.

There are a few tools that I’ve picked up on my journey to the edge of becoming that I pull out of my toolbox again and again. The Enneagram is one of them. Already familiar with the Enneagram or are you’re saying: “The Enne-a-what?!?”  No matter where you are on this journey, this conversation’s got something for everyone. I hope you enjoy it. xoB

Getting Unstuck with Stacie Barber

Getting Unstuck with Stacie Barber

March 22, 2021

Feeling stuck? Not sure how to get back in motion? In today’s show Mindset + Life Coach Stacie Barber invites us to join her in the vulnerable, honest, and very real space that can help us get back in motion. Her personal journey has some really challenging parts, which she shares with us today. Through her story, she shows us how to weave the hard parts of our own lives into our story, but not allow them to define who we are today or who we decide to be tomorrow. It’s a real-world example of the include + transcend formula that leads to transformation. If you’re ready to harness the ‘power of the pause’ we’ve all just experienced and stop reacting to things in our lives and to start responding in a manner that not only serves us but everyone around us, you don’t want to miss this conversation. Stacie shows us how living in our full expression allows others to do the same so that they don’t feel like they have to stay stuck and how seeing that expression come to life in ourselves and in others allows for the most beautiful awakening to occur. I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did. xoB

What It Looks Like to Start Where You Are with Julia Inserro

What It Looks Like to Start Where You Are with Julia Inserro

March 15, 2021

We’re always told to just start where we are, but what does that actually look like? Today’s guest is here to give us an inside view of what it looked like when the whispers started calling her to write children’s books. With three children under the age of three, living abroad, and having no experience in the publishing world, Julia Inserro spoke her dream out loud, asked for the support she needed to bring it together, and with the seed of an idea, her scissors, and glue she put together her first children’s book, which has now sold over 15,000 copies and was the springboard for writing 8 more books to date.

There are so many lessons that we can learn from her experience like:

✧How to begin when you have no idea what you’re doing.

✧The absolute necessity to speak your intentions and desire into the universe.

✧A creative way to scaffold feedback and criticism so that it doesn’t squash your dreams.

✧How to avoid the pitfall of the perfection trap.

Inspiring, insightful, and downright delightful. I hope you enjoy this conversation. xoB

The Quiet Start + The Messy Middle with Jenn Oglesbee

The Quiet Start + The Messy Middle with Jenn Oglesbee

March 8, 2021

Are you sitting in a space and time when something in your life doesn’t feel quite right? Pandemic aside, do you feel an overall sense of unease and dissatisfaction but can’t quite put your finger on anything that is specifically calling out as the culprit? Today’s guest, Life Coach and Licensed Clinical Social Worker Jenn Oglesbee, has been there and knows how to help women realign with their inner wisdom as they start to recognize the quiet start and then move through the disorienting, messy middle of major life transitions.

We’re talking about:

✧The power you will find in noticing and what that looks like

✧What envy can tell you about what your soul is calling you to do

✧Working with our body as it gives us information and truth that our brains aren’t yet ready to digest

✧How little changes lead to big action and even bigger alignment

✧ Teasing apart what’s really important to us versus what we’re doing to please other people

✧Giving ourselves permission to uncover our essential self and animating it in our everyday lives to create more freedom and joy

In addition, for the life-coach curious, we have a great conversation about what life coaching is and isn’t (you might be surprised!) and how it can accelerate your progress to the edge of becoming. xoB

Falling Upward: A Fresh Way of Thinking About Spirituality

Falling Upward: A Fresh Way of Thinking About Spirituality

March 1, 2021

I’m trying something new on today’s show – I’ve asked two friends, Jocelyn Gruber and Pam Hervey, to join me for a book talk on Fr. Richard Rohr’s best-selling book, “Falling Upward: A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life.”  This book has been a life-changer for me and my guests as we navigate our way through the hazy middle of major life transitions. Coming from similar and different faith backgrounds and with varying degrees of current religious affiliation, this book, written by a Catholic Priest, proved to be very accessible to each of us and provided all three of us a universal framework in which we could situate our own experiences as we move to the edge of becoming. If you find yourself feeling stuck in that in-between space of the now and not yet, I hope that you will find a lot of comfort in this conversation and even more guidance and wisdom in this book. I can’t recommend it enough.  xoB

Book Description: In Falling Upward, Fr. Richard Rohr seeks to help readers understand the tasks of the two halves of life and to show them that those who have fallen, failed, or "gone down" are the only ones who understand "up." What looks like falling down can largely be experienced as "falling upward." In fact, it is not a loss but somehow actually a gain, as we have all seen with those who have come to their fullness. This important book explores the counterintuitive message that we grow spiritually much more by doing wrong than by doing right.

✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧✧

Learn more about Fr. Richard Rohr at The Center for Action and Contemplation https://cac.org/ (where you can also buy this book) and through his podcast, Another Name for Everything.

Unmet Needs + Stress Behaviors with Jacquelyn Wieland

Unmet Needs + Stress Behaviors with Jacquelyn Wieland

February 22, 2021

How clearly do you understand your needs and how confidently do you own them? Do you know how you come across to others when your needs aren’t met and your stress behavior takes over?  When you’re aware of how you show up and how you’re perceived and misperceived it gives you an opportunity to be reflective and think forward about how you want to shift and show up on your continued path. In short, it makes you a much more effective leader of your own life.

On today’s show, you’ll hear my conversation with Jacquelyn Wieland, a leadership coach and consultant to Fortune 500 companies and c-suite leaders across the country. For over 20 years, she has been helping people understand themselves better so that they can productively engage with others, self-manage in highly fluid environments, increase their awareness, and connect to the moment at hand.  All the elements we need to unleash our soul song!

We cover a lot of ground in this conversation from:

✧How she guided her business through 2020 and was pressed to really walk the walk.

✧Why we avoid risk + how we engage in self-talk that holds us back + limits our opportunities.

✧How we deny our needs, how that leads to stress behavior, what that looks like to other people + what we can do to manage it.

In this age of disruption, when stress behaviors are being triggered daily, we need self-leadership now more than ever. Understanding and owning our needs is critical to moving forward and staying on our path to the edge of becoming. I hope this episode gives you some much-needed tools for the journey!  xoB

Discerning Between Heart Knowing and Head Knowing

Discerning Between Heart Knowing and Head Knowing

February 15, 2021

Do you have trouble trusting your inner wisdom, your highest self – your heart knowing? How do we know for sure that we’re standing in a strong heart-first posture and that our ego (the head) isn’t sneaking in to trick us? Today, I’m sharing with you the single most powerful tool that I’ve used to come home to myself and trust my inner wisdom. It’s what I believe is the underpinning to hearing the whispers and Unleashing Your Soul Song.  We’re going to talk about how to discern between heart knowing and head knowing - how to hold truths that live in tension – how to really sink into the spacious and expansive heart space – and the two keys that can unlock powerful transformations. These are the things I wish someone had shared with me when I started to embrace the edge of becoming. I hope they help you on your path. xoB

The Surprising Truth About Information Overload

The Surprising Truth About Information Overload

February 1, 2021

Have you ever felt that the whispers from your soul were getting drowned out by the fast and shallow noise of cable news cycles, mobile phone alerts and notifications, emails, text messages, and social media? Is the dopamine-seeking reward loop that keeps us scrolling and searching for more information the problem? Or is it the high-stakes challenges we are facing in the world right now with a pandemic, social unrest, and economic uncertainty? Whatever the reason, one thing is for certain - our heads are always on the hunt for more.  More information, more stories, more data, more proof to make our points and it distracts us from our tasks, reduces our productivity, and makes it hard to hear the whispers calling us to our higher-wisdom. This never-ending information hunt interferes with our natural thought processes, inhibiting logic, creativity, and innovation. Instead, it creates action paralysis, trapping us in research cycles or indecision that keeps us stuck. With so many articles written about information overload and so many tools at our disposal to help us manage it, why do we allow ourselves to keep getting so overwhelmed? I’ve got a theory that I’m exploring with you today that might just make you pause. This approach has helped me reframe my relationship with information and supercharged my journey to the edge of becoming. I invite you to explore with me and see if this reframing might also help you in your pursuit to unleash your soul song.  xoB

In today’s show international Emotional Detox Coach®, Sherianna Boyle is going to walk us through her C.L.E.A.N.S.E formula that can help us learn to process our emotions and get the value from them they are here to bring. An Emotional Detox helps us stop reacting and start acting so that we can address our anxieties and clear a path for new positive habits, behaviors, and emotions. After a year like this one, I think an emotional detox is exactly what we all might need!  xoB

Time for Two: The Quiet Riot (aka: Imposter’s Syndrome, Inner Critic, Self-Doubt)

November 12, 2020

When I was in the early days of my journey to the edge of becoming I listened to a LOT of podcasts – and when I would hear one that talked about something that really caught my attention I would instantly go looking for other, related shows so that I could get more information or a different perspective. I always thought it would be awesome to find some sort of podcast round-up that could do that work for me – which is why I created “Time for Two”.  Each Thursday I’ll pop in your feed with suggestions for two podcasts that are related to the topic that I touched on that week. I’ll tell you where to find them and a little about what you can expect so that you can decide if they’re worth exploring. So, let's get to it - here's this week's Time for Two!  xoB

How I Manage the Quiet Riot

How I Manage the Quiet Riot

November 9, 2020

Do you “feel the noize?” Not from the heavy metal band Quiet Riot…no I’m talking about the riot that plays heavy metal noise in our head – quiet to others but a perfectly orchestrated concert to us. The voices that come in right on cue delivering mega-wat doses of self-doubt, criticism, judgement, and insecurity. The feeling of just not being enough that keeps us from taking action, sharing our ideas, or inching closer to the edge of becoming. What I’m calling the internal quiet riot goes by so many monikers: resistance, imposture’s syndrome, self-doubt, the inner critic.  Today we’re breaking down some practical tools that you can use to manage your internal quiet riot and I’ll share how they worked for me. We’re digging into:

  • 5 warnings about the internal quiet riot that will keep you from banging your head
  • tips for how to identify the sound of the internal quiet riot so that you can see it for what it is
  • advice on how to tease out valuable, rational thinking from the destructive, distorted songs of the quiet riot
  • 11 tools that can help you manage the quiet riot

So come on, let’s get “wild, wild, wild” and take on our internal quiet riot like a rock n’ roll badass! xoB

Finding the High Road to Your Dreams with Jeff Cohen

Finding the High Road to Your Dreams with Jeff Cohen

November 2, 2020

I can’t wait for you to hear my conversation with mega-hit songwriter, producer, and publisher, Jeff Cohen. By age 29 he had worked his way up to be the Senior Director of BMI (a music rights management company) finding, signing, and working with artists like the Spin Doctors, Lisa Loeb, Blues Traveler, Ben Folds, and Jeff Buckley. By all measures, he “made it” in the music industry and was making the kind of money that most people wouldn’t dare to jeopardize. He loved what he was doing and was perfectly happy but felt pulled to something more, something different. So, in his 30’s, he left it all with no intention of going back to chase down his dream of being a songwriter, a move that a lot of people didn’t understand. You’d expect that with his experience in the music industry the transition would be easy, but for many reasons, it turned out to be a detriment. With extraordinary humility and inspiring perspectives, Jeff shows us how you can pull on the threads of curiosity and interest from your childhood and weave them into a career – how self-awareness and integrity are some of the best supports you could have in chasing down your dream – and how to keep going when you reestablish yourself outside of what people know you for, what they expect of you, or want for you. This conversation is SO VALUABLE to hear as we navigate our own path. But that’s not surprising - who better than a master songwriter to help us unleash our soul song?  xoB

City Sleek to Eco Chic: Going Through a Life Shift with Tami McCarthy

October 19, 2020

Today we’re talking to Tami McCarthy, one of the most amazing bridge builders and community connectors that I’ve ever met. Tami believes life is for living and is most interesting when it collides with passion and purpose. We’re bringing that grand ideal down to reality and talking about exactly how she’s putting those beliefs in action. This is a deep dive into what a big life shift looks like. How she went from starting and running her own award-winning PR agency in New York City, to reconnecting with her passion for acting and refocusing her entrepreneurial chops around a new vision for an eco-conscious community hub that she turned into a reality through her store, the Kahlo Collective. It’s an inspiring example of listening to the whispers of your soul even though you have no idea where they’re going to take you. Tami’s living her best life answering the call of her soul. If you’re looking for encouragement to take that first step or to keep walking your path, you don’t want to miss her story!  xoB

The Insider’s Guide to Making Space for Your Dreams

The Insider’s Guide to Making Space for Your Dreams

October 5, 2020

We’ve all heard the saying – you make space for the things you love – but if you get really honest, is that what you’re doing? Welcome to one of the most complicated steps on the path to unleashing your soul song – creating space for your dreams. This stretch of the path can be littered with questions, confusion, pain, and isolation right along with progress, joy, fulfillment, and connection. In today’s show, we’re talking about how making space is mostly an inside job, how carving out that kind of space isn’t easy, and how honoring it can be even harder. We’re peeling back the layers to see what that can look like in action and how fear can creep in and play in your shadows to derail the whole process. Maybe you’ve been asking yourself: Is it possible to make space for something that’s not actualized yet? Should making that space come at the cost of letting go of something else you love? Is the chatter inside my head just fear or is it intuition telling me something I need to know? If you’ve been tripping over these questions, or didn’t even know you might ever ask them, I hope that this insider’s guide to making space for your dreams helps illuminate your path to finding the answers.  xoB

Navigating Unwelcome Change with Vicki Clark

Navigating Unwelcome Change with Vicki Clark

September 28, 2020

Vicki Clark, an in-demand leadership consultant and coach, joined me today in an intimate and honest conversation about loss, letting go, accepting help, and being reborn. Her story takes us from living the American dream, to a complete life and mental breakdown, to rebirth through the painful embrace of loss and release. As if that wasn’t enough for one lifetime, like so many others, Vicki’s life and livelihood was upended by Covid-19 and she was forced to, once again, let go of a reality she knew to navigate an unknown path to unknown territory. That path led her to create an online community called Let’s Talk About It & Do Something, which was originally intended to be an experience for women looking to level-up and sharpen their leadership skills. But when Breonna Taylor & George Floyd were killed, Vicki faced a new crossroads. One that forced her to look at her own life and experiences as an African American woman and courageously find a new, more powerful voice to would help her community engage in the kind of respectful, hard conversations that are so necessary for true transformation. Fearing that the “new Vicki” could lead her to, once again, lose it all, Vicki was greeted with the opposite. Almost overnight her online community went from a few hundred to over 6,000 members.

She shares the key piece of advice that helped her finally let go of the painful loss she’d experienced and what happened once she did. How she’s faced tragedy and found empowerment. And what she’s learned about rolling with whatever comes her way and landing on her feet.

If you’re facing unwelcome changes in your life – this is a must listen!   xoB

Oh Shift, What’s Happening?

Oh Shift, What’s Happening?

September 21, 2020

You know that fuzzy in-between space of the now and not yet, when you can’t quite hold on to things as they are but you can’t get a grip on something new either? When your sense of belonging, purpose and identity feel shaken? When things seem to be shifting around or in you and you don’t understand what’s happening? That time ripe with possibility for some serious crazy making? Well, it’s got a name and there are some contours of this space and time that have been defined. In today’s show I’m going to share what I’ve learned about this challenging season, what more traditionally understood periods of this time look like, and how my own experience in a more undefined version of this space began to transform my life. No two experiences with this are the same, but there’s comfort in seeing the familiar contours in someone else’s road.  Plus, definition helps navigation. I hope this episode sheds some light as you embrace your own personal transformation and chart your path forward.  xoB
